Term Plan
GRADE 5
Teacher-set objectives:        
1.   Develop students speaking, listening, writing and reading skills through varied communicative activities (e.g., dialogues, songs and short conversation)
2. Build sufficient and familiarity of the English language through communicative activities and experiences
3. Enable students to speak and write in English about situations they can easily relate to



TERMS/Themes 1
“You are what you eat.”
Unit 1: Food
Unit 2: At the Zoo
Let’s Go ( Grammar Points / Language Functions)
-Describing the number of food items
-Asking and answering how much and/or how many
-Classifying countable/uncountable nouns
- Comparing animal descriptions
-Comparative and Superlative forms of adjectives
- Describing and comparing kinds of transportation
-constructing Wh/yes/no questions
Listening
-       To develop a positive attitude towards listening
-       Identify the main idea and various details in a listening text
-       listen to, view , interpret and respond to spoken, audio texts e.g. legends, stories etc.
-       identify the sequence of events
-       make simple connections to real life and personal experience
Speaking
-speak clearly and fluently with appropriate voice quality in the speaking activities in the class
= Party Planning
-use language to produce spontaneous ang planned spoken texts, and convey them in multimodal ways ( poetry, show and tell)
-deliver with clarity, fluency and appropriate volume
Reading
-Construct meanings from visual texts (pictures)
-Ask and answer questions about the text
-Read and view a variety of reading –age-appropriate and high interest books and texts e.g., narratives, poems,personal recounts etc…
-          Retell main events and/or sequence of events in a text, and recall details (who, what, when, where, how, why)
Grammar and Writing
-use grammatical terms correctly(noun, article, pronoun,verb etc)
- use different determiners, quantifiers
-constructing Wh/yes/no questions using correct helping verbs

-stimulate imagination, generate and organize facts and ideas

- construct a variety of sentences to form a descriptive paragraph
Main student output

-(Work piece) Menu plan (daily/weekly)
-Food Scrapbooking
-Food Art
- Food Chain
